Ensuring braddock is the best place to live, work, and Raise a family.

ABC’S: Ilryong’s Vision for Braddock

Affordable Housing

Fairfax is behind its goal of building new affordable housing, and we must work with the private sector to address regulatory hurdles and incentivize the creation of higher density housing that is accessible to those across the income spectrum.

BEST SCHOOLS

We must ensure that Fairfax County Public Schools excel in meeting the needs of their students through raising teacher pay, preparing them for post-secondary education and employment, and expanding pre-K and mental health services.

COST EFFICIENCY

We need to address redundancies and streamline operational processes in government systems to reduce waste. By doing so, we can use savings to lower property taxes.

ADDITIONAL PRIORITIES

Affordable Child Care

Childcare is too expensive for too many families in Fairfax. Ilryong will increase eligibility for childcare subsidies and work with private providers to build more daycares, reducing prices by increasing the supply of child care.

job assistance

Fairfax County must support all residents—from recent graduates to mid-career workers—as they navigate an evolving economy. Ilryong will expand vocational training in schools, partner with community institutions to host job fairs, and encourage local businesses to invest in professional skills development.

Environment

As climate change intensifies, Fairfax County must take bold action to confront environmental challenges. Ilryong will prioritize planting trees, strengthening flood mitigation efforts, improving water quality, and incentivizing the use of renewable energy and recycling to build a more sustainable future.

immigration

As someone who came to America as a teenager, the son of hardworking immigrants seeking political and economic freedom, Ilryong understands that our immigrant communities are what make the Braddock District a great place to live, work, and raise a family. He believes we should invest in our immigrant communities through increasing job opportunities, supporting small businesses, many of which are owned by immigrants, and expanding English language learning programs.

He is abhorred by the unconstitutional and un-American actions that the Trump administration and ICE have taken against our immigrant communities. He will fight to ensure ICE cannot deputize the Fairfax County Sheriff's Department and Police Department, prevent the unlawful arrests of immigrants in courtrooms, and keep ICE out of our schools and classrooms so all children can learn in a happy and safe environment.

Public Safety

Ilryong believes that Fairfax County must continue to prioritize public safety through supporting our law enforcement officers as well as building trust between communities and police. This includes raising police pay, improving mental health crisis services, and empowering civilian review boards.

On the School Board, Ilryong advanced trust-based reforms for school resource officers. As a member of the Fairfax County Police Chief’s Diversity Council, he worked to make the police force more inclusive.

Senior Citizen Services

Benefits provided to seniors, from educational opportunities to caregiver support and job training, are often too challenging and complicated to access. Ilryong himself has experienced these difficulties while registering for the state’s free college auditing program for seniors.

By streamlining the processes to access these services, Ilryong will ensure all of Fairfax’s seniors can receive the resources they deserve.

Lake Accotink

Lake Accotink has posed environmental challenges to Braddock District for years, increasingly filling up with stormwater runoff as costly studies slow down the County’s response. Ilryong understands that we must act rather than let the issue remain unresolved. As Supervisor, he will work with the community to find reasonably acceptable solutions without further delay.

Transportation

Traffic, tolls, and pedestrian safety are top of mind concerns for many Fairfax residents, Ilryong included. To address our transportation concerns, Ilryong believes in expanding public transportation options, reducing toll costs, creating new walkways, and building traffic lights at near-miss hotspots. The initiatives will reduce congestion and make Fairfax a safer place to drive, walk, and bike.

He has already made progress on these issues on the School Board, increasing safety features on school buses and adding crossing guards to schools across Fairfax.

Business Friendly Regulation

As a practitioner of small business law, and a small business owner himself, Ilryong understands the concerns that Fairfax’s business community faces when it comes to overregulation. As your next supervisor, Ilryong will conduct a thorough audit of existing regulations for starting and maintaining small businesses in order to cut red tape and encourage our thriving business community to grow.
