STUDENT FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Moon for Braddock Supervisor is looking to recruit campaign fellows who are passionate about politics and willing to do a variety of campaign related tasks. We aim to provide fellows with an exciting, fast-paced opportunity to learn more about electoral politics and gain campaign experience. This opportunity is a great way for students to get the Community Service Hours they need to graduate!

TASKS

Tasks could involve any number of campaign activities, from helping out at the campaign office, making graphics, fundraising, attending community events, staffing the candidate, and other activities as necessary. The primary tasks for fellows will likely involve direct voter outreach through canvassing (door knocking) and phonebanking. Training and mentorship will be provided to students who pursue the fellowship.

ABOUT THE CANDIDATE

Born into poverty in South Korea, Ilryong Moon immigrated to Virginia as a teenager and became the first in his family to graduate high school. After earning a degree from Harvard, he practiced small business law and raised two sons in the Braddock District, where he’s lived since 1987. As the first Asian American elected to Fairfax County government, Ilryong has spent nearly 30 years on the School Board and Planning Commission. From improving teacher pay to expanding access to high-quality education, he has helped make Fairfax County Public Schools among the nation’s best. Now, Ilryong is running for Braddock District Supervisor to keep Fairfax County a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE ELECTION

Ilryong Moon is running in a special primary election to fill the vacancy in the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors that was left by James Walkinshaw’s election to congress on September 9th. Our election date will be announced soon once James is formally in Congress, and there are several candidates in the running.
