TWo Former Fairfax County School Board Chairs Endorse Ilryong Moon for Braddock District Supervisor

Fairfax, VA — Ilryong Moon’s campaign for Braddock District Supervisor continues to gain momentum with the endorsement of two respected former Chairs of the Fairfax County School Board Karen Corbett Sanders, former Mount Vernon District Representative, and Tamara Derenak Kaufax, former Franconia District Representative.

Corbett Sanders praised Moon’s integrity and long-standing service:

“I’ve had the honor of knowing Ilryong Moon for 20 years as a constituent and colleague. Ilryong is an inspirational leader and a public servant with the keen legal intellect and integrity to best represent the residents of the Braddock District, and an excellent colleague to the current Board.  Serving in leadership on the School Board, I depended on his guidance to navigate challenging times in a fiscally responsible manner, ensuring that all decisions put students and families first.

He is also an inspirational leader whose life story—immigrating to the United States as a young man, attending the best schools in Virginia and the nation, and dedicating his life to public service as both an elected leader and a Sunday school teacher—speaks to his character, perseverance, and commitment to community.”

Derenak Kaufax emphasized Moon’s proven leadership and readiness to serve:

“I am honored and excited to endorse Ilryong Moon for the Braddock District Supervisor seat. As a School Board member, lawyer, and community advocate, Ilryong has lived his life as a servant leader. I have the confidence and trust that he is the most qualified and capable candidate to represent the Braddock District constituents on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.

I have known Ilryong for over 15 years, as a colleague, mentor, and friend. During our time on the School Board, we developed FCPS’s first strategic plan, created the first Portrait of a Graduate and maintained the highest quality educational opportunities for every child. I have watched Ilryong lead with intelligence, integrity, and compassion. It is time for him to share his impressive skill set with the broader Fairfax Community as the Braddock Member on the Board of Supervisors.”

Moon welcomed their support, noting the growing coalition behind his campaign:

These endorsements join a growing list of Fairfax County leaders backing Moon’s campaign, including Virginia State Senator Jennifer Boysko, At-Large School Board Member Ryan McElveen, Mount Vernon District Member Mateo Dunne, and Mason District Member and former Chair of the Fairfax County School Board Dr. Ricardy Anderson.
